May 13th, 2007 "Die-ing" For A VacationMan, I am "die-ing" for a vacation. I have not had one for a few years because in my industry it seems that when I have enough staff to go, we are too busy; and when we are slow, I don't have the staff. So the next time you are out in a restuarant on a holiday, give an extra tip to those who can't spend time with their families because they are serving you. That is why I am particularly mad about the notion that the Iraq Parliament is thinking of taking a few months off in the middle of the most tense situation in the world. So far, I have been impressed with Bob Gates, our new Defense Secretary. I think he said it best when he told the Iraqis that for every day they take off, they should know that at least 2 Americans will have died for that privilege. An average of 100 soldiers are dying a month in Iraq, and they have the nerve to suggest a 2 month vacation! Well I say go! But know that we are going to take a little break, too. We should stop protecting them during this holiday and keep all of our troops in the barracks until they get back. Then we will see how good of an idea a vacation seems to these self-serving idiots.
