May 2nd, 2007 Time to Get SpecificI asked myself two questions today and you should do the same. They were, who do you support for president and why? The answers were McCain and Obama but the why was a much harder nut to crack. McCain: maybe it is just the bulldog in him that I love plus his lifetime of service to this country. I think that it is his turn in a way. Obama I support mainly because of the speech he gave at the last Democratic Convention; and, I suppose, his freshness and charm. But notice I didn't cite any policy positions because these two, along with all the other candidates, have no specific policy papers on their websites. If you do what I did and search the sites of all the top 6 candidates, Republican and Democrat, you will see a bunch of "pretty talk" but no real answers to real tough questions. If you listen to the way the race is being presented by the talking heads, all they do is say stuff like, "Wow! Hillary wore some nice pearls; or he got a $400 haircut; or he looks good in a bathing suit; and boy he sure is a maverick". They are throwing the ball and we are fetching. So, from now on, if anyone wants to know whom I support I will say "No one!" until someone gets specific.
